The steam cleaning process removes the moss at low pressure; afterward, a treatment can be applied to keep the roof cleaner for longer.
How do we clean your roof?
There are two methods we use to clean roof tiles.
- Roof scraping
- Steam cleaning

Instant results from Steam Cleaning
Traditional pressure washing on a roof is not ideal for every hard surface and can actually be a detrimental process without the correct knowledge. High-pressure washers can remove the protective coating on roofing materials.
For this reason, we use steam cleaning. This allows us to achieve instant results! Steam cleaning is ideal on clay roof tiles, among a few other materials like concrete providing the protective coating is still in good condition. Steam cleaning allows us to clean roof types that otherwise could not be cleaned using the traditional scraping method.
After steam cleaning the roof, it can remain moss-free for up to 3 years and, in some cases, significantly longer depending on the roof's exposure to the sun and the environment that the home is located.
For the stains that cannot be removed instantly with steam, we apply a gentle softwash treatment to remove stubborn lichens that penetrate the surface level of the tile, which over the coming weeks with disintegrating away and drop off the tile.

Fantastic results from Roof Scraping.
It sounds pretty aggressive. All we would be using is a tool on a pole that matches precisely the profile of your roof tile.
Once the roof scraping is complete, the gutters are emptied in preparation for treating the remaining roof.
We treat the roof to remove the remaining moss that cannot be removed from the scraping process. We use a cleaning process called softwashing. This process has been around since the early 1990s and is an industry standard for treating roofs. This is to eradicate the remaining moss that cannot be removed from the scraping process.
Over the coming weeks, the remaining 5-10% of the moss will shrivel up and disintegrate away.
This is our least favourite was to clean a roof because its less detailed compared with hot water cleaning, but on certain tiles its the only method safe to use.
